Jim Baillie Memorial Bird Walks
These outings are aimed at the intermediate birder but beginners are also welcome. They are free to the public and no advance registration is required.
Sunday, January 24
“Gulls and Waterfowl” – Sunnyside.
1:30 p.m. – Sunset.
Leader: Bob Cumming. Meet in the Sunnyside Parking Lot at the foot of Windermere Avenue.
Dress warmly.
Sunday, January 31
“Winter Birds” – Durham Region.
9:00 a.m. – early p.m.
Leader: Rayfield Pye. Meet at the S.W. corner of the Pickering GO Station parking lot (Bayly/Liverpool) to car pool if necessary. Bring a lunch and dress warmly.
Sunday, March 7
“Waterfowl” – Toronto to Burlington.
9:00 a.m. (all day).
Leader: Garth Riley. Meet in the parking lot at Humber Bay East to car pool. Bring a lunch and dress warmly.
Saturday, April 24
“Little Gulls and other migrants” – Oshawa Second Marsh.
9:00 a.m. – early afternoon.
Leader: Tyler Hoar. Meet in the parking lot at GM Headquarters in Oshawa. Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit (419) in Oshawa. Go south on Farewell St. to Colonel Sam Drive. Turn east onto Colonel Sam Drive and follow to the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot close to the marsh. Bring a lunch.
Sunday, April 25
“Early Migrants” – Leslie Street Spit.
8:00 a.m. – early p.m.
Leader: Hugh Currie. Meet at the foot of Leslie Street. Bring a lunch.
Saturday, May 1
“Spring Migration” – High Park.
7:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
Leader: Bob Yukich. Meet in the parking area inside the Bloor Street entrance at High Park.
Saturday, May 8
“Warblers” – Lambton Woods.
7:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
Leader: Don Burton. Meet in the parking lot at James Gardens (access from Edenbridge Drive).
Saturday, May 22
“Whimbrel and other Migrants” – Colonel Samuel Smith Park.
7:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
Leader: Steven Favier. Meet in the southerly parking lot at the foot of Kipling Avenue.
Monday, May 24
“Peak Migration” – Toronto Islands.
7:45 a.m. – (all day).
Leader: Luc Fazio. Meet at the Toronto Islands Ferry Docks at the foot of Bay Street to catch the 8:00 a.m. ferry to Hanlan’s Point. Bring a lunch.
